The Virgin and Child tapestry is based on art by the renowned fourteenth century Italian painter, Barnaba da Modena (1330-1386). Barnaba da Modena’s most famous works include The Coronation of the Virgin, The Trinity, Virgin and Child, and The Crucifixion. 

The original painting of Virgin and Child by Barnaba de Modena is curently located in the museum of Louvre, Paris.
